Capital Volume I

This course undertakes a close reading of Volume I of Marx's famous analysis of capitalist production, highlighting its relevance to contemporary conditions and its rootedness in working class politics.

David Harvey is a Professor of Anthropology at the CUNY Graduate Center. He has taught Marx's Capital almost every year since 1971 and regularly teaches on Marxian political economy, with particular emphasis upon urbanization and the environment. He has been a supporter of rent control and living wage campaigns in Baltimore, and worked on a variety of political questions. Among his publications are The Limits to Capital, The Condition of Postmodernity, Justice, Nature and the Geography of Difference, Paris, Capital of Modernity, Spaces of Hope, Spaces of Capital, The New Imperialism and A Brief History of Neoliberalism.
